Information about Screen sizes.
TV bezels (the frame around the screen) vary in size and adds to the overall physical TV dimensions.
Here is the formula for calculating Screen Dimensions
For a Standard 4:3 screen:
Width = Diagonal X 0.8
Height = Diagonal X 0.6
SO, a 32 inch 4:3 screen is 25.6 inches wide and 19.2 tall.
For a 16:9 (HD TV) Widescreen:
Width = Diagonal X 0.87157552765421
Height = Diagonal X 0.490261259680549
SO, a 43 inch 16:9 screen is 37.5 inches wide and 21.1 inches tall.
A 52" TV has 4 times the viewing area of a 26" TV
& a 60" TV has 4 x the viewing area of a 30" TV.
I created the following table for calculating Screen Dimensions, based on the above formula.
I ignored the old 4:3 format since they have gone the way of the Dodo Bird.
